G. Oliver YoungG. Oliver Young is a Senior Product Manager at Jive Software where he is focused on creating the next generation of social business software. Oliver is a thought leader on social technology for business, and over his career has distinguished himself with top-notch analysis, quantitative skills, and client relationships. As a result he has become a nationally recognized industry expert on social media and Enterprise 2.0 technology. His work has been cited in press outlets including The Wall Street Journal, The Financial Times, The Economist, Information Week, CIO Magazine, ComputerWorld, and numerous trade publications and blogs.

As an economist Oliver brings a particularly quantitative approach to my work, focusing as much as possible on innovative data analysis, customer surveys, and market trends. Few things make him happier than a brand new data set to dig in to.

In his career Oliver has also had the opportunity to directly advise executives at multinational Fortune 500 companies including Chevron, Cisco, GlaxoSmithKline, HP, IBM, Intel, MetLife, Microsoft, and SAP. He is a sought-after public speaker, and has been a featured speaker at highly attended industry events and conferences such as The Web 2.0 Expo, Interop, Enterprise 2.0, and The Gilbane Conference, as well as several Forrester Marketing and Consumer Forums. Prior to his work at Jive Oliver was a Senior Analyst at Forrester Research, Inc where he focused on helping technology product marketing and vendor strategy professionals.

Prior to his role as an analyst, Oliver ran the operations of Forrester’s Business Techographics survey product, serving clients, writing surveys, and managing data collection and analysis. All told, Oliver has conducted more than 50,000 complete business surveys over the last 4 years.

Oliver is a graduate of Kalamazoo College, a leading liberal arts college located in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He graduated with a dual degree: A BA in economics, with an emphasis in business, and in English. He has also studied at the London School of Economics.

A native of Grosse Pointe, Michigan (a leafy suburb of Detroit), Oliver is a passionate sports fan, following the Tigers, Lions, Red Wings, Pistons, and Michigan Wolverines. No, he does not want to talk about the Lions. Oliver is also a competitive sailor, crewing on his high school varsity team and helping to found a team at Kalamazoo College.
